Galleries, workshops and who gets which work?!

I quite literally have no idea where this week has gone - I mean really...Friday?  How on earth did we get to this end of the week already?

Monday, Tues and now Weds too,  I am in the studio squirrelling away, happy as can be - packed lunch in the fridge - lost in making new works until about 2.30 when I leave for home, via the nosh shop to get the odds and ends I need for supps - also perhaps via the framers to collect or drop off summat - absolutely love it, and quite frankly who wouldn't?!

My best part of the day is when packing the studio at the end of the day and getting ready for the next session that I'm there, I begin to think about the children and being home when they get back from school - what to make for tea, etc etc - what after school snacks, what veg can I hide in the evening meal and what pudding follows...(pudding?  this is a new addition to our evening meal, given that my bionic boy is hungry constantly from about 4-7pm..pudding is my way of saying "kitchen is now closed' good eh?)  I digress.

Ah yes...that feeling of having gone out and done something, anything to get my creative brain used - even for 5 minutes.  I have always been a doer, a get up in the am and get going.  In fact I believe that in order to be a sucessful sole-trader/self-employed person/freelancer/mumpreneur type person the golden rule is this......you have to learn to self-start.

Self-starting is tough, but self-starting on an hourly basis is even tougher.  The good news is that it can be learnt and the brain can be switched to 'I am now going to switch off that Mrs Minus in my head and get on with the next bit, and then the next bit, etc etc'  until a feeling of achievement creeps in and hey presto...you feel bloody marvellous as there are actually some marks on the paper.  The actual artwork might be crap but you feel on top of the world.  Tidy the studio, leave the artwork on top of the desk and LEAVE THE ROOM!    On entering the next day you are pretty much guaranteed to walk in fresh as a daisy and think - 'Gosh that's not half-bad actually' and off we go again...nice.

My week this week has been filled with workshop offers.  The Affordable Art Fair, Battersea have asked me to run one at the Spring Fair...its looking pretty good to go.

More soon...
