I have been in Printmaking heaven this week.
Ever since
the darling husband and I installed the very-heavy etching press in my
studio on the biggest, most cracking hangover last Sunday, I have been eating, thinking and sleeping drypoint printmaking as am stupidly inspired.
My printmaking mentor and great friend, Jo de Pear very
kindly lent me her press to make my own prints in my studio. This for a
printmaker of Jo's stature is a bit like your most best cook ever
lending someone her oven to make thier own roast in - you get the
picture.

I
know this is a small image but if you click on Jo's name it will take
you bang into this page on her website. This work is called 'Button
Hooks and Brushes' and is an ode to an Aunt of hers, representing things
she loved on and about her dressing table. So touching. We sold many
of these in the gallery when I had it. Unsurprisingly too, they are
divine works. Its a big print at 60 x 115cm and each print is
editioned and made by Jo herself. They are priced at £460 each and in
fact, I think I may need one myself. Photo Etching with Silver
Leaf...I wouldn't have a clue.
So...my own prints, ah yes. Blissful.
The
process is the the thing for me. Drawing is immediate and sometimes I
work with my eyes on my left hand, not on the paper in order for 'happy
accidents' to occur. When making prints my hand is forced not to rush,
the process is the king.
Images of new works coming soon...
