Notes to other Artists: Approaching a Gallery.

Having been a self-employed Artist for 15 years now, I have lots of first-hand experiences on do's and don'ts in my industry. Here are the benefits of my ups and downs which I offer up with love and good wishes that you find the motivation to continue. Being an Artist is all about hard graft and dogged determination. Money is sporadic, it can be a lonely living to make and it takes ages to get established...all true. However...to do what you were plonked here in the universe to do is the holy grail, follow your dream...keep going, don't give up...perhaps just get a part-time job alongside for a little while...its not rocket science and it doesn't mean that you will have failed. Tough times, tough galleries.

When I had my own gallery, we were approached by Artists alot. A gallery can't run without work to sell...if they choose to work with you its because they see something special in you...this has to continue for the gallery to take that punt. They need to know that whilst you have beautiful work in your collection that you approached them with...you can make more and will continue to do so.

There are certain things that you may overlook and its these that I aim to point out. Some may be obvious but all are from the heart.

Keep going fellow Artist...
